PROJECT 581-UNIOS-75
A project that sees reconciliation as a whole.
PAXMED is an institutional research project of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, carried out at the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Đakovo.
THE PROJECT'S STARTING POINT
Reconciliation is not a shortcut past responsibility, but a path towards a restored relationship.
About the project
To examine mediation and the spiritual dimension of reconciliation as a path to restoring relationships and building trust, and to carry the findings into education and social practice.
PAXMED understands reconciliation as a process that presupposes truth, the acknowledgement of responsibility, respect for the dignity of the person and the free possibility of restoring broken relationships.
The project examines the role of mediation as a process that connects dialogue, justice and the restoration of trust in communities that have experienced division and conflict.
The project joins interdisciplinary theoretical research, the development and evaluation of educational content, the organisation of academic conferences, the production of digital learning materials and cooperation with relevant stakeholders from the academic and wider community.
STRUCTURE OF THE PROJECT
Five work packages
01Theoretical foundations of mediation and the spiritual dimension of reconciliation
The philosophical, theological, psychological and legal foundations of mediation, reconciliation and the building of trust are examined across disciplines. Particular attention is given to the ethical and spiritual dimension of reconciliation.
02Development of the joint study programme in Mediation
The findings serve as the scholarly and professional basis for a joint integrated university study programme in Mediation. The aim is to bring the knowledge and approaches of different faculties of the University together into an interdisciplinary model for educating future mediators.
03International academic conferences
The project organises international academic conferences devoted to mediation, reconciliation, forgiveness, responsibility and the building of trust. They bring Croatian and international scholars together and provide a forum for presenting and discussing the project's findings.
04Open and digital learning materials
The project develops educational materials that make its findings available to students, professionals and the wider public. The emphasis is on digital, openly accessible content that can support both the teaching and the practice of mediation.
05Mediation Platform of Slavonia and Baranja
The project establishes the Mediation Platform of Slavonia and Baranja as a space connecting the academic community, mediators, institutions and other stakeholders. The platform is to enable the exchange of knowledge and experience and contribute to a culture of dialogue, mediation and reconciliation in the local community.
